Following are some of my Pen and Ink Portraits. I love our furry and feathery friends, and accept pet-portraiture commissions between my illustration assignments.

I love to draw animals, but at this point in life, for reasons that I can’t write here, I am short of time…

I looked up the emails and I did send responses, so I’m wondering if the problem is at my end? I have the link to the book and asked my independent book store to order it for me, Hopefully it will be in this week.

Clare, my book is an eBook. You can download and read eBooks on your iPad or Kindle or any other mobile device, or even on your computer. But you can’t order them through your store. I can’t imagine what the book-store guy must be doing to get it for you…short of printing it on his printer, I mean 🙂 I wish I could get them available as printed books too…but it may not happen until next year. Oh, I’ll check my Spam folder – sometimes, some emails land there.

I left a note about ordering a few books from other bloggers with the clerk last week when I was at the store. Fia Essen is one of them. Bob, the owner, wasn’t there that day. Maybe that’s why I haven’t heard from him. I’ll check in with the store tomorrow. They are carrying my book and have done a good job publicizing it in the community. i love independent book stores.

I’ll be curious to know what he has to say about my book 🙂

I’ll let you know tomorrow. Working out in the yard in the morning, then going into town. I’ll stop at the store then. He owes me a check for some of my books that he sold.

Couldn’t find anything in the spam folder either…

Sent you a message from the email link I did receive. Can’t track down any others. I know it’s a glitch on my side, because I make changes with accounts and then can’t keep track.

Just sent you two emails (a new one and I forwarded the other email that you hadn’t received.) Just mentioning it here because I am not sure if you’ll receive these too…gmail can be obnoxious at times!

Received them and it definitely is my email that’s at fault. Can’t live with, it can’t live without it (or maybe I could if some of my friends weren’t so far away!)

It will all work out. You’ve handled so many more important and difficult problems so well – don’t worry about it. And I think you’ve been getting my emails for the last two days – so everything seems to be ok.

Thanks so much Caitlin. I love animals and by extension I love drawing them. Generally in Pen and Ink because you can do a lot with the fur and the eyes in that medium.

It definitely makes the eyes stand out really well which is hard to do in photos of pets!

You are right. I remember doing a pen and ink portrait of an English Sheepdog where you couldn’t see the eyes clearly in any of the reference pictures. The best picture had one eye visible (though hazy) and the other hidden behind a tuft of fur growing on his snout. So I worked with my imagination and pressed down the tuft a little and drew the hidden eye. The pup’s owner was super-happy with the portrait (my client had got it done as a gift for her dad) and they even sent me pictures of the framed portrait. Working with just black and creating all those different shades is challenging…sometimes 🙂 Sorry for rambling on…
