Top 12 Caricatures by Shafali the Caricaturist (Ahem!) – A list of her personal favorites :-)

Hello, Hello!

This is the Caricaturist’s alter ego speaking.

Don’t ask why her egos, primary and alternate, are both bruised. She can’t answer right-away. Perhaps unseen forces and unforeseen circumstances may force her into answering that question, yet she hopes she won’t have to.

In any event, I must share with you the top twelve caricatures that I have drawn ever since this blog started. In fact, it’s something that I’ve been planning to do for over six months…! Ah, well. It’s done now, and so there’s no point harping about stuff that doesn’t matter any more 🙂

Out of a total of about 100 caricatures, this appears to be a rather modest collection – doesn’t it?

Okay, here are my top 12 favorite caricatures that have appeared on this blog and elsewhere…and yes, the order in which they appear doesn’t indicate anything – least of all my preference 🙂

  1. Muammar Gaddafi

  2. Barack Obama

  3. Russell Crowe

  4. Osama Bin Laden

  5. Charlie Chaplin

  6. Ozzy Osbourne

  7. Mark Zuckerberg

  8. Hamid KarzaiPresident Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan Caricature Icon

  9. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

  10. Angela Merkel

  11. Nicolas Sarkozy

  12. Johnny Depp

Down the Memory Lane…
Depp’s was the first caricature to appear on this blog. I really like what I did with his beard in this caricature 🙂 I also like that expression that doesn’t move too far away from Jack Sparrow’s characteristic express, and yet manages to convey the confusion and anger because of the two industrious mice.

Thanks friends, for being with me on this trip into the past 🙂

Caricature/Cartoon – Sarah Jessica Parker – The Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City.

Know Sarah Jessica Parker?
No?
Know Carrie Bradshaw?
Of course.

Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City brought her four Golden Globes and many other awards. She is also a Hollywood Actress who has worked in a movie by the same name (SATC) and many other films.

The Caricature, Cartoon, Portrait, Sketch of Sarah Jessica Parker, the Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City - SATC

Short biography of Sarah Jessica Parker:

Sarah Jessica Parker was born in Ohio (1965) and had 8 siblings of the half and the full kind. The interesting but unfortunate bit about her lineage is that Esther Elwell, one of the women who was accused of being a witch and tried in the Salem witch trials, was her ancestor. She began acting at a very early age. Her career swung upwards in 1990s and she starred opposite Nicholas Cage, Bruce Willis, and Johnny Depp too!

However, she’s best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, which was first aired in 1998. Sex and the City was an HBO sitcom, which brought her awards and fame.

Sarah has also endorsed some important brands (Garnier, Gap…) and in 2005, she even released her own perfume called, “Lovely”.

Her lovelife between 1984 and 1991 was centered on Robert Downey, Jr. (Something that I can’t understand is how can someone go through his whole life lugging someone else’s name with a Junior attached to it! I guess this must’ve been the real reason behind Downey’s drug problem, which ultimately terminated his relationship with Ms. Parker.) In 1997, she married Matthew Broderick.

Sarah Jessica Parker in News:

“I Don’t Know How She Does It” a movie based on a book by Allison Pearson will feature Sarah starring opposite Pierce Brosnan. The movie is expected to be in theaters by 2012. SJP plays a finance executive who is the breadwinner for her family, which includes her husband and children.

Read about it here.
Sarah J Parker made it to the top of the ugliest women list published by the Men’s Magazine Maxim. However, not everyone agrees – she’s got boat-loads of fans who think she’s witty and charming. (Remember something about beauty being skin-deep? This is especially true when men sit down to assess beauty!)

Sarah Jessica Parker Quotes:

Here’s a really cool SJP quote:
“After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breath and reboot.”
and another one…
“I like my money right where I can see it… hanging in my closet.”
and finally…
“Can you really forgive if you can’t forget?”

The woman has a head on her shoulders…right?

Shafali’s Caricatures…The Story So Far!

It’s been quite a journey. I started this blog on December 11, 2010. The reason was simple – It had been a while since I had felt happy…and so I picked up the pencil and began to draw. I drew and smiled…and then I drew some more…and then, someone who I’d trust with my life said that I should share what I drew.

So I did, hoping that when people visited my blog, the smile on my face would hop on to theirs:) I think my wish is coming true.

The first caricature that I had created for this blog was of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Caribbean fame. The two mice climbing his braided beard, trying to find the cheese that they hoped to find hidden behind his ears…they just happened. And then, the jokes went on happening. I’d look at face and read about the person behind the face – and the story would emerge.

I’ve been drawing ever since I remember. I’ve been having this light-dark kind of affair with drawing for a long time…and I often wonder whether this is my calling.

Until tomorrow then, when I shall post the other half of Brangelina, Ms. Angelina Jolie. (View the caricature of Mr. Brad Pitt as Achilles here.)

Last evening’s efforts resulted in this caricature of one of my favorite pirates – Captain Jack Sparrow! In the Pirates series, he was amazingly unkempt and surprisingly irresistible. Funny that when I visualize Johnny Depp, he’s always the “cheesy” pirate!

Where is the cheese…Captain Sparrow?

Almost there – right?
